Garnmile is an efficiency and technology consultancy. We take responsibility for the part of your business that quietly bills you every month — the software, the infrastructure, and the processes wrapped around them.
Hire an accountant, you get a spreadsheet. Hire an engineer, you get another vendor.
The gap between them is where the money goes: nobody both reads the bill and can build the replacement.
So we do both — audit spend like a finance function, migrate systems like an engineering one, then stay and maintain what we built. A self-hosted service without an owner is the failure everyone fears.
Our bias toward open source isn't ideological. Software you can host, read, modify and move beats software you rent on terms the vendor can change — and run properly, it's more reliable too.

Harrison Hassig
I studied economics and then learned to build software, and the gap between them is the reason this firm exists. Economics taught me to look at a cost and ask what it actually returns. Building taught me what it would take to replace whatever is generating that cost. Most people have one or the other — which is why the invoice and the system behind it almost never get looked at by the same person.
Efficiency isn't a position I picked for the market. I've been this way for years, well before it was a company: somewhere between basketball, running, too much coffee, and a low tolerance for watching something take longer than it should. The habit came first. The firm came second.
Everything I would put in front of you, I run myself first — a fleet of self-hosted services on hardware I own, monitored and backed up the same way I would maintain yours. This site is served from one of those machines. If I am wrong about any of it, I am the one it breaks for.
