About
We are the people who read the invoices.
Garnmile is an efficiency and technology consultancy. We take responsibility for the part of your business that quietly bills you every month — the software, the infrastructure, and the processes wrapped around them.
Most consultancies that touch cost are accountants with a spreadsheet. Most that touch infrastructure are engineers who will happily add another vendor.
The gap between them is where the money goes: nobody is both looking at the bill and capable of building the replacement.
That is the entire premise of this firm. We audit recurring spend like a finance function and we migrate systems like an engineering one — then we stay and maintain what we built, because a self-hosted service without an owner is exactly the failure mode everyone is afraid of.
We are opinionated about open source, and not for ideological reasons. Software you can host, read, modify and move is simply a better long-term position than software you rent under terms the vendor can change. It is also, once properly run, more reliable — and we run it.

The founder
Harrison Hassig
His CV has opened with those three lines for years.
The gap this firm exists to close runs straight through his own training. An economics degree teaches you to read a cost structure and ask what it actually returns. Building software teaches you what it would take to replace the thing generating the cost. Most people have one or the other, which is why the bill and the system that produces it are almost never examined by the same person.
Efficiency is not a market position he picked. It has been listed as a personal interest on his CV for years — sitting between basketball, running, coffee and travel — long before it was a company. The habit came first; the firm came second.
Everything Garnmile recommends, he runs himself first: a fleet of self-hosted services on hardware he owns, monitored, backed up and maintained the same way a client's would be. This site is served from one of those machines. The argument is not theoretical.
